The Long Island Policy Forum is offering exciting internship opportunities in Public Policy/Political Science and Journalism. Powered by an interactive web site, The Long Island Policy Forum is a Long Island think tank dedicated to increasing discussion and action on important public policy issues.
The Long Island Policy Forum is committed to furthering the knowledge of native Long Islanders about public policy issues affecting their area. The main purpose of the Policy Forum’s website is to inform and discuss public policy issues on Long Island. It is an open forum where residents will be able to discuss public policies and news stories that are important to them. The website will also allow users to upload events and meetings onto an events calendar for others to see. It will also include links to local governments, media outlets, civic association, higher educational institutions, and other public policy related sites. The policy forum sections of the web site will be regulated directly by interns and their supervisors. The intern’s duties will include updating the forums, uploading data and other relevant information to the website, and reviewing all postings. They will also be asked to research important issues and policies affecting Long Island.
The intern must be enrolled in a Higher Educational institution for the duration of the internship and must be receiving academic credit, to be determined by their institution. They will be asked to work at minimum of sixteen hours per week.
