Levy, Dormer Meet with FBI on Gang Tactics


Hauppauge, NYSuffolk County Executive Steve Levy and Police Commissioner Richard Dormer today hosted officials from the FBI Eastern Region for an update on the agency’s Long Island Gang Task Force and efforts underway with the Suffolk Police Department to combat gun and gang activity.

“We welcome the intelligence and assistance that has been provided by the Long Island Gang Task Force over the last several months, including a months-long investigation in Huntington Station two weeks ago which led to the arrest of 10 of 22 Latin Kings gang leaders,” said Levy.

Along with receiving tactical updates on the Task Force’s efforts, the county executive discussed with the agents additional enforcement and prosecutorial measures which could be pushed in Albany and Washington to strengthen the ability to get gang members off the streets.

Levy – who along with police officials met with David A. Cardona, F.B.I., Special Agent in Charge, Criminal Division, New York Office; Belle Chen, F.B.I., Asst. Special Agent in Charge, Criminal Division, New York Office and Michael J. Ferrandino, F.B.I., Supervisory Senior Resident Agent, Melville Office -- offered the FBI the full continued support of the police department.
